System transformation in Poland and regaining sovereignty have created new conditions and opened new cooperation opportunities for Polish engineering communities in Poland and abroad. Their calls for the world-scale integration of engineering communities as well as dissemination, promotion and application of Polish engineering achievements in various fields of science and technology and their implementation in economy were an incentive to organize the World Congress of Polish Engineers. That idea was the grounds for signing an agreement on Congress organization between Professor Włodzimierz Kurnik, Rector of Warsaw University of Technology and Mr Andrzej Drzewiecki, representing the Council of Polish Engineers in North America, and then between Professor Włodzimierz Kurnik, Rector of Warsaw University of Technology and Ms Ewa Mańkiewicz-Cudny, President of the Federation of Engineering Associations - NOT.
The World Congress of Polish Engineers is the continuation of engineering seminars “Poles Together’, organized by NOT since 1996 and many other initiatives by organizations of the Polish community abroad from Europe and North America, as well as the Association 'Polish Community' (Wspólnota Polska). The Congress will be an excellent forum for the presentation of most important scientific and economic issues being of interest to Congress participants and an opportunity to establish contacts and cooperation, especially in the field of innovation and high-tech.
